Pickler is built to make packaging sustainability measurable, transparent, and compliant — across methodology, data standards, and EU regulation.
By combining verified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) principles, internationally recognized databases, and regulator-approved communication rules, Pickler gives companies a single, trusted system for measuring, reporting, and sharing their environmental impact.
Verified and Standardized Methodology
At the core of Pickler lies the Fast-Track LCA, a verified method designed to balance scientific rigor with speed and scalability.
Independently verified by Normec Verifavia, confirming full alignment with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, the global standards for conducting LCAs.
Eco-costs are calculated according to ISO 14008, translating environmental impact into financial terms.
Background data is sourced from IDEMAT, the peer-reviewed lifecycle database developed by TU Delft, ensuring scientific reliability and transparency.
This standardized model ensures that every calculation in Pickler is traceable, comparable, and verifiable, allowing companies to use the results directly for sustainability reporting and communication.
2. Alignment with Key Regulations
Pickler is designed to meet the main European sustainability requirements for reporting, packaging, and communication.
CSRD
Pickler provides ISO-verified, ESRS-aligned environmental impact indicators across all five environmental ESRS domains (E1–E5). Because Pickler calculates impacts at the product level, companies can feed these results straight into CSRD sustainability statements, dashboards, and Scope 3 exchanges with customers.
Pickler does not determine materiality or submit CSRD reports, but it does provide the complete, regulator-ready environmental data required to support them.
PPWR
Fully PPWR-ready, linking every data field to EU regulation and translates PPWR requirements into structured data fields. Recyclability, design-for-recycling, minimisation, reuse, compostability, substances of concern, recycled content, biobased content, and Declarations of Conformity are all represented in Pickler exactly as defined in the PPWR Articles and Annexes.
This enables companies to record packaging attributes at product, pack, case, and pallet level — with linked evidence and audit-ready documentation — and generate PPWR-aligned reports with confidence.

DPP / ESPR
Pickler follows the structure set out in ESPR Annex III, ensuring that all required passport information is already embedded in our data model: composition, recycled and biobased content, certifications, substances of concern, traceability (origin, processing, transport, end-of-life), recyclability and disposal instructions, and passport version metadata.
As a result, Pickler provides a fully structured dataset that can serve directly as the foundation for the upcoming EU Digital Product Passport.
Green Claims Directive
Pickler supports companies in making clear, specific, and verifiable environmental claims. All claims are based on ISO-verified LCA data, supported by structured evidence types, and presented through communication formats (reports, comparisons, widgets) that are approved by the Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM).
This ensures alignment with both the EU Green Claims Directive and national anti-greenwashing rules, giving companies a reliable and regulator-approved foundation for sustainability communication.
3. Structured and Interoperable Data
Pickler’s data model follows international data exchange standards, ensuring compatibility and traceability throughout the supply chain.
GS1 hierarchy (product → pack → case → pallet): Reflects the full packaging system for accurate impact allocation.
PACT framework (WBCSD): Defines a shared language for product carbon footprint (PCF) data exchange, classifying data as primary, secondary, or default.
This structure ensures that data from Pickler can integrate seamlessly into digital product passports, customer reports, and supply chain systems.
