For example, we cannot exclude the possibility that information displayed on this website is incomplete or incorrect. As such, we advise you to always seek appropriate advice before taking or refraining from taking any action in reliance on information provided on this website.

We do not give legal advice (green claims)

We do not provide any legal advice (with regard to green claims) and do not take into account the specific circumstances of website visitors or customers when providing information on this website. The information provided on this website reflects our opinion and / or experiences and should absolutely not be considered as a substitute for legal advice.

Whether a green claim is legitimate or not is subject to the applicable (consumer and environmental protection) laws of each individual country. We therefore urge website visitors and customers to consult a qualified legal professional in their respective jurisdiction before making decisions based on information provided through this website.

If you want to do a bit more research on your own first, you could start by checking out the following websites:

Please note that if you fail to make a legitimate green claim, you are most likely guilty of greenwashing and at risk of (serious) fines and / or claims for damages. Moreover, greenwashing will damage the reputation of your company and may lead to a loss of customers. So, it is important to ensure that any green claim you make is accurate, relevant, verifiable and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Risk factors relating to regulation

You should know that legal and regulatory changes could (adversely) affect the accuracy of any information provided by us on this website. Regulation of green claims is subject to political debate and likely to rapidly evolve.

For example, the European Commission has published a proposal for a new directive on substantiation and communication of explicit environmental claims (Green Claims Directive). If the proposal is approved, it will impose new requirements for environmental claims across Europe. Therefore, you should be aware that the information on this website may become outdated or inaccurate as a result of changes in rules and regulations.

Please note that your failure to comply with any rules, laws and regulations could result in a variety of adverse consequences, including fines. We therefore recommend that you observe legal and regulatory developments at all times.

Methodology

The methodology used by us is based on internationally recognized standards, and the IDEMAT LCI data we use for the calculations is in compliance with ISO 14040, ISO 14044, EN 15804, and the LCA handbook of the ILCD. We are working together with the non-profit organization Sustainability Impact Metrics. The methodology takes into account a wide range of environmental impacts across the entire life cycle of the product or process, including manufacturing, distribution, use, and end-of-life disposal. However, we would like to stress that the accuracy of the results generated by the Pickler application is highly dependent on the quality and completeness of the data you input. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the results generated by the Pickler application. Furthermore, we cannot be held liable for any decisions or actions taken based on the results generated by the Pickler application. Users are advised to exercise caution and seek expert advice where necessary, particularly when using the Pickler application for critical or high-stakes decisions.

Your responsibility

We encourage our users to exercise caution and diligence when using the Pickler application and making environmental claims based on the results. It is important to verify and validate the results using appropriate methods and to consider the limitations of the data and methodology used in the assessment. We strive to ensure that the Pickler application and associated eco-forecasts and benchmarks are in line with laws and regulations for environmental claims. However, please note that no rights can be derived from our efforts to comply with these laws and regulations.
