Feature Update - 7th of October, 2024
Pickler Sidebar
It's finally here: Our integrated sidebar! We are excited about releasing this first version to you. With this, you can get relevant help immediately, no matter where you are in Pickler.
It works by being contextually integrated with our platform. If you are working with comparisons and would like help to better understand your results, you can access the sidebar, where it will already have content and Help Center articles related to comparisons waiting for you!
To learn more about your new sidebar in Pickler, simply log in, click the new icon on your right-hand side, and explore it!
Adding "Heat" to the Production Method
When adding custom production methods in Pickler, you can now add heat as well.
To access this:
Go to Data Mapping
Find the Material you want to add heat to
Click on its associated Production Method to see the dropdown menu
Scroll to the bottom of the dropdown, and click "Add New".
Here, you can enter "Heat" as (part of) the Production Method, as well as the total amount of energy required for the material
- Should it be relevant: 1 kWh equals 3.6 Mega Joules (MJ)
Note: If you choose to add heat to the Production Method, then we ask that you fill in both the specific method, along with the total amount of energy required for this material (in Kwh per kg of material).
We need this to make our calculations work, given how this is a custom production method and not part of our automated calculations. Additionally, you can add "Evidence" to the production method by "describing the specific production method and energy used". Lastly, you can add a URL to this section, should one be available from you or your supplier.
Adding 1000km to Material Transport (automatic calculations)
At Pickler, we are always looking for ways to improve transparency and make our calculations better understandable. That is why we have added travel distance as a benchmark average to our automatic calculations (more specifically for the "Trucks with Container" section) to make even more accurate assessments, based on available data. Similarly, this is done to be in line with how all our automatic calculations take place.
Previously, the transport of raw materials to processing facilities was left out of Pickler, due to low data availability in the market, low contribution to the overall score of most packaging, and the availability of a good average value. In consultation with Sustainability Impact Metrics, they have provided us with an average safe-side value for the transport leg, so that we have the full supply chain more transparent and understandable.
For a technical in-depth view of this, please use this link.
Please note that you can still add your own Custom Transport Calculations to your products, making them as tailored for you as possible.
Feature Update - 20th of September, 2024
Custom End-of-Life data
With our updated End-of-Life section (under Impact Report) you can now add customized distribution.
This means you can now add your own End-of-Life scenarios, which allows you to divert from the default End-of-Life scenarios that Pickler provides.
This is beneficial because it allows you to get a more accurate EcoScore, and be even more compliant with existing requirements and regulations.
Be aware though: At this point, it's only possible to downgrade the End-of-Life of your products. When you enter your custom values, Pickler will check these and compare them to the default End-of-Life values.
However, for Scenario products this is possible, as this is not official data, but rather hypothetical.
If your custom values generate a better score than your custom EcoScore, then it will not be applied by Pickler. This is a feature that will come in the future.
For now, you can add your information at the Product level, and then we (further) calculate it on the Material level.
You can do this via API, CSV, and the form.
Click here to read more about adding Custom End-of-Life data.
Feature Update - 5th of September, 2024
Creating Scope 3 Reports
With the reporting feature in Pickler, you can now create scope 3 reports for your customers, based on the order history.
For more information on this, you can head over to the article "How to use reporting".
Sales Data Implementation
By adding sales data to Pickler, you can see the total carbon footprint and eco-cost sold over a period of time, based on your orders.
For more information on this, you can head over to the article "How do I use sales data in Pickler".
FAQ: "I'm trying to create a report, but I can't find the customer in the dropdown menu, or the correct date range. What do I do?"
In this update you can find a walkthrough on how you can ensure that your Sales Data is up to date, and ready to be used to build the reports you want, especially when tailoring it to specific customers or date ranges.
For more information on this, you can head over to the article "I'm trying to create a report, but I can't find the customer in the dropdown menu, or the correct date range".
Feature Update - 2nd of May, 2024
New impact report designs, and reintroducing the eco score.
1. New menu layout:
We've updated the layout of Pickler with a more intuitive design:
Your menu and settings are now on the left bar instead of the top bar.
The menu includes an easy link to Pickler's Help Center and chat.
2. Reintroducing the eco score:
After careful discussion and collaboration with our partner Sustainability Impact Metrics on optimizing the eco score according to new anti-greenwashing regulations, the eco score is back in the impact reports.
It's now optional to include the eco score in the reports you share with clients.
The design of the eco score is updated
The range now includes the score A+
Read more about the eco score and how to best use it here.
3. New Packaging Impact Report design:
We updated the impact report (formerly called eco-forecast) design based on your extensive feedback and included new options on what information you can show to your customers.
Top menu: Every report now has a top menu where the user can jump to the different sections.
Adjusting product quantities: You can now adjust how many products the impact report covers. Pickler shows the quantities in the top + the combined weight.
Intuitive life cycle impact stages: the impact life cycle stages have been moved up in the layout of the report. The design made more intuitive.
The map is temporarily unavailable and going under construction. We will release the map next week.

Idemat data update - Feb 5
New electricity and transport values
Idemat is Pickler's environmental database. To ensure up-to-date footprint results (anti-greenwashing requirement), Idemat continuously updates its data with the latest research and electricity data.
The latest updates released on Feb 5 will be:
The electricity data by country has been updated with 2022 data. (Please note: electricity data is always behind one year).
The result: all footprints of production processes are automatically updated.. As these processes apply the production energy per country. This can slightly increase or decrease your product's eco costs.
The transport figures are also updated due to the latest values.
The result:
1. By default, the application now assumes that "unspecified transport" is volume transport.
This means it pays off to carefully look at your pallet weights & dimensions, and your transport distances. Especially for cellulose products. The more specific you can make these values, the better your footprint results will be.
2. The transport value for "Truck with Trailer" in Idemat has been updated with the latest research. This might result in slightly worse eco costs in your transport stage.

Eco forecast 2.0, data mapping and default values
Let's dive into our new feature updates and bug fixes!
Eco forecast 2.0
After receiving great feedback from you all on our tests designs for the new eco forecasts, it's live!
Client-friendlier: The new design is more self-explanatory for your clients. Providing links to relevant articles, branding options, and communicating the credibility of your report.
Interactive map: the new map shows your product's journey along its full life cycle. Click on the lifecycle stage you want and the map moves to the location of the process.
New life cycle stage design: The new life cycle design enables you to filter on individual impact categories or select all categories at once - and see their impact division along the product life cycle. This makes it even easier to see where the biggest impact comes from.
Temporary removal eco score: the eco score is temporarily removed as it poses some potential difficulties in alignment with ACMs guidelines for making environmental claims. We'd like to discuss the future of the eco score with our customers. If you are interested in participating, please let us know in the chat or email [email protected].
Improved mapping - CSV import
You can now map your import data materials and own product categories to those in Pickler. This speeds up the process of correctly adding the right product data to Pickler and adding new products.
Map your products in two ways:
1. Click on 'mapping' in 'more' in your portfolio overview
2. Import a CSV file and go to the next step.
Default production and transport values: unspecified
When you miss production or transport values when you add your products, Pickler now has default unspecified values with worst-case scenario impact values. This ensures your results can only be improved from this point and you cannot greenwash if you lack data in the beginning. (anti-greenwashing alignment)
Default Production process: 2000 kwh/kg
Default Transport distance: 21.000 km.
Bug fixes
We also fixed some bugs:
When you create a new product and select a supplier, the supplier is now saved correctly.
The production section now fills out correctly after your mapping.
