Step 1: Add production location
Write out the location where the packaging component(s) is produced.
The minimum required location level for anti-greenwashing legislation is country.
Adding a new, unmapped location:
Simply write out the name of the country or place whene your packaging's component is produced.
After you save your product, you will map this refenece location to a Google Maps location.
The value won't show 'mapped' behind it yet, which means it still needs to be mapped.
Adding a mapped location:
Search/choose from the drop-down under 'process location' and click on the location you need.
The value will show 'mapped' in green if it was already mapped.

Step 2: Adding production methods
Depending on the selected product category and materials, we can be able to prefill the production method.
If empty, click the dropdown and select the right production method or add a new one. You will now see the energy field (Kwh/kg) prefilled.
Adding a custom production method and/or energy use (Kwh/Kg)
You can add a custom production method and energy use when needed.
This can be the case when your production method is not in the list when the prefilled energy use is not in line with your actual energy use (because you use renewable energy for example).

About the production stage
In the production stage, the environmental costs of the manufacturing of the packaging are taken into account. This includes:
Ecocosts of the production processes of manufacturing the packaging
Processing waste from manufacturing
How it works
To calculate the footprint for this stage, we take the energy mix of the country or region of the production location together with the energy consumption of the selected production method
