Official source

Biobased content

The total percentage of packaging material derived from renewable biological sources (e.g. plant-based polymers or paper fibres), expressed as a share of total component weight. T

Compostability category

Classification of the packaging based on the composting environment under which it meets the requirements of PPWR Article 9 and Annex III. Categories correspond to recognized standards for industrial (EN 13432 / EN 14995) or home composting (e.g. EN 17427, ISO 17088).

Compostability certificate or standard

Reference to the compostability standard applied for verifying compliance under the PPWR. Includes recognized standards such as EN 13432, EN 14995, ISO 17088, or equivalent national standards.

Disposal instructions provided

Indicates whether disposal or recycling instructions are available to end users in accordance with ESPR / DPP requirements (Article 8, Annex II). Instructions for correct disposal or recycling route, in accordance with ESPR / DPP requirements.

EU Declaration of Conformity (DoC) available

Indicates whether a signed Declaration of Conformity exists for this packaging unit or type.

Made from monomaterial

Indicates whether the packaging is made entirely from a single material type, allowing for classification as “single-material packaging”. Single-material packaging supports higher recyclability performance (Grade A–B).

Minimisation description

Description or reference to documentation proving compliance with packaging minimisation requirements, such as design reports, packaging assessments, or empty-space ratio calculations.

Plastic-free

Confirms that the packaging contains no plastics, including polymer-based coatings, linings, or adhesives, as defined under EU law (Regulation (EU) 10/2011 and Directive (EU) 2019/904).

Plastic-free evidence

Evidence supporting the plastic-free claim, such as a supplier declaration, lab test, or accredited certification confirming absence of plastics as defined under EU law.

Recyclability assessment

Reference to the methodology or standard used to assess the recyclability of the packaging, in line with PPWR design-for-recycling requirements.

Recyclability grade

Indicates the recyclability performance of the packaging based on its material and design. Classes A–C follow the criteria defined in the PPWR and recognized design-for-recycling methodologies such as RecyClass or CEFLEX.

Recycled content (Post industrial)

Percentage of recycled content derived from post-industrial sources such as production scrap or factory waste. Used to report recycled input according to PPWR requirements.

Recycled content (Post-consumer)

Percentage of recycled content originating from post-consumer sources, i.e. materials recovered after end-user use. Required for plastic packaging as defined in Annex II of the PPWR.

Recycled content certificate or standard

Certificate or declaration confirming the presence of recycled content in the packaging material.

Reuse cycles

Minimum number of reuse cycles the packaging is designed to withstand.

Reuse system description

Description of the system enabling reuse (e.g., deposit-return scheme, refill logistics, pool system) aligned with PPWR Article 1

Substances of concern - Analytical or test method reference

Reference to the laboratory test, certificate, or analytical standard used to verify hazardous-substance concentrations.

Substances of concern - Heavy metals concentration

Total concentration (mg/kg) of regulated heavy metals — lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), and hexavalent chromium (Cr VI). Must not exceed the maximum limits under PPWR Article 5.

Substances of concern - PFAS concentration

Total concentration of PFAS expressed in parts per billion (ppb). Used to demonstrate compliance with PPWR Article 5 restrictions for food-contact packaging.

Substances of concern - Other

Name of the hazardous substance identified under REACH or DPP registry. Used when a regulated substance other than PFAS or heavy metals is present.
