Microplastics are tiny plastic particles, typically less than 5 millimeters in length, and are found in the environment, as a result of the breakdown of larger plastics.

They are the effects of using plastic products, and typically something that occur after the End-of-Life. An example could be when tiny particles of a plastic cup end up in the environment. The effects of microplastics are accounted for in Eco-cost, as it is considered to have an affect on human health. You can read more about it here.
