Wood cutlery is considered inert in landfill with 0 emissions because it falls under the European Union's definition of inert waste. This means it doesn't undergo significant physical, chemical, or biological transformations in landfill. Additionally, for products with a less than 100 years lifespan, like packaging, we follow the scientific consensus of not counting biogenic carbon uptake in lifecycle assessments.
